Day two of Extreme Masters II finals will feature the second part of the group stage. Ten teams are still in the run, trying to qualify for the playoffs.

Those of you, who enjoyed the matches yesterday, will have another go at watching high quality matches, as second part of the group stage will kick off today. It’s still only one team qualifying directly to the playoff brackets, being played Saturday and Sunday. Most teams would like to go directly to the playoffs, as the relegation between second and third placed teams could turn out to be very difficult and tough to advance from.

Yesterdays big surprises would be mousesports and Spirit of Amga. Mousesports really did not play that well during NGL One finals in Berlin two weeks ago. They however got success with rewiring their tactic book or perhaps the addition of the sponsors Dell, Intel and addidas made it clear to them that it was time to get serious. They beat the NGL One champions from fnatic in their first match 18:12 on de_nuke and beating roccat very confident with 20:10 on de_dust2. They have two opponents left, Made in Brazil who had one win and one loss today.

They other opponent will be the other big surprise today. Danish Spirit of Amiga, attending their first international final. Many said prior to tournament start, that the Danes never had a chance versus these teams. But Spirit of Amiga wanted it different. In their only match, they went up against Made in Brazil. The two meet each other at DreakHack back in November 2007. Spirit of Amiga attended the event with zone as stand-in. They managed to go into overtime versus the Latin-Americans. Made in Brazil did pull out victorious, but this time Spirit of Amiga wanted the win badly. Spirit of Amiga did get struck by bad luck, as ArcadioN’s sound stopped working in the 7th round. He played one round without sound, before the problem got fixed. This match had Spirit of Amiga written all over it. Not that Made in Brazil played badly, but Spirit of Amiga simply outplayed them.

Second part of the group stage is scheduled to start at 15:45 CET, there will eventually be some delays, as some teams also have to play Samsung European Championship, and it’s located in a different location, as Extreme Masters isn’t being played at CeBIT (will be Saturday and Sunday).
